HarborFest 2010

Last week was HarborFest, one of several big festivals in South Haven during the summer.

Saturday was the first day in a long time I can remember where Jim and I had nothing going on and got to spend the whole day together.

Hunter loved it too. We started out by taking a nice walk on the Kal-Haven Trail with Hunter. Then, Jim and I went down to the Pier and got some carnival food and checked out the festival.

We stopped by an antique boat show, got some Dairy Queen and headed home. Then, we did something we NEVER do. We laid around in the backyard for a couple hours. Once the heat became too much we took Hunter to the beach to cool off.

On the way home we stopped by an old-fashioned baseball game and cheered on the South Haven Park Peelers vs some other team. It was very interesting, they play by 1800's rules, and use no gloves.

At that point, we'd already done a lot, but the day kept going, we had some China Cafe Restaurant for dinner, then headed back down to HarborFest to get an elephant ear, watch the sunset and check out the bands playing that night.

Frozen Peas to Double D's

I had the honor to walk in Race for a Cure on Saturday in honor/support of the wonderful Kay.

30,000 plus people took off down Woodward in fun t-shirts, carrying signs with marvelous team names. Ours was "Frozen Peas to Double D's." We even made the local news! It was amazing to be a part of something so special.

In much less important events, Hunter destroyed our new digital camera and Jim took our old to to Massachusetts, so I have no pictures of Hunter's AWESOME trip to the beach. He almost swam, and got to run around and play in the water with lots of other dogs AND little boys. Hunter even made friends with a boy named Hunter. The boy Hunter's mother did not seem to appreciate my constant calling of her son/ my dog's name. Whoops.
